Currently the Society has around 175 members, from all walks of life, who take part in such activities as:

General Meetings: These are held on the third Wednesday of the month at the Peninsula School in Mount Eliza, at 8pm. Included are Bob Heales' Sky for the Month and usually a video or Guest Speaker. Refreshments are also served. A location map is also online.

Public Viewing Nights: These are held at the Briars Visitors Centre on the first Friday of each month, commencing at 8pm. Bookings can be made by phoning 0419 253 252. Please bring along any telescopes or binoculars you may have. A jacket and insect repellent are always handy.

Briars Visit Log: Use this log to check out whether you will have any company for your next visit to the Briars.

Members Viewing Nights: An advantage of membership is the opportunity to take part in Members Nights, at our Observatory site in The Briars parklands. New members should contact David Girling prior to attending.

Loan Telescopes: The Society has two scopes for use by members, an 80mm refractor and an 8" Dobsonian. These can be hired on a monthly basis.

School Viewing Nights: Often we are called upon to conduct viewing nights for schools and community groups, which we enjoy immensly. If you'd like us to come to your school or group, please email us for details.

Social Functions: Whether it's a movie, dinner or ten-pin bowling, members often get together to socialise and have a little fun.

Other Events: We also take part in other events with other societies, such as meteor observing with members of the Astronomical Society of Victoria and events such as VASTROC (Victorian Amateur Astronomers Conference). Click here for more.
